Would a 6'9" millionaire cram himself into a 4'6" economy car for simple features like a digital clock and rear window defrost? He would if it was the 1980s and his name was Larry Bird.

The beginning of that commercial is delightfully ambiguous. Is he talking about a Ford Escort, or is he talking about the female companion kind of "escort?" With that ridiculous mustache, it's hard to tell. I rather like to think he's hopping into his Escort to go meet up with his escort.

Shaq - "As his manager, I will only allow 'Bron to do the dunk contest if Vince Carter comes back out," O'Neal said. "If Kobe comes back out and if another big name comes back out. If we could get a big prize and have half of the money go to the people of Haiti and the other half to the winner.
"The guys that are in it, no disrespect to them, but there won't really be any competition for LeBron. I want to see Kobe. I want to see Vince and I will allow my client to enter."

This guy is dumb, but no news there. Half the money to Haiti and half to the winner? I wonder why he proposed that and not all money to Haiti. I can't come up with an answer.

And there would be competition, actually shannon brown may jump higher than lebron. He sure jumps higher than carter or bryant.

Vasco ...

I think the idea of "half to the winner" is, to get the winner an extra opportunity to donate "his" money then. Or can you imagine any player like 'bron, kobe or vince takin' the money for themselves ?
... Since most of them are highly competitive, there would be an extra incentive to actually try to win this contest, in order to be the "generous" guy, donating "his" win to the people of Haiti.

Oh OK if that is what he was thinking it is actually a very good idea.

Shaq is still dumb though.

Everything about Bird's relationship with this place was fine...

Until they said if he were black he'd just be another player.

By the way, nice to see our very own Bawful make it onto this list of the Top 10 TrueHoop posts of the past year. (And for a very deserving piece, I might add)
