Gaaaaak
A scene from Shaun of the Dead or a Larry Hughes jump shot sighting?

From TrueHoop: "On a more positive note, Larry Hughes of the Knicks hit a jump shot with 8:30 remaining to snap his 0-for-18 slump to start the preseason. Hughes finished 1-for-3, upping his accuracy rate to 5 percent in New York's five exhibition games." That's the Big Shot Larry we know and loath.

But don't worry, Knicks fans. After all, Big Shot Larry says he isn't worried about his cold shooting: "I haven't been getting a lot of shots that I want and making shots that I want. But it's the preseason. I think I'm getting limited minutes and not getting into a rhythm. But it will come. I've played in this league a long time. I'm not concerned." Well, you know what John Cusack would say: when they tell you not to panic, that's when you RUN!!

Man, it's the a good thing the Knicks are only paying him $13,655,268 this season. Wait...oh God...

Thanks to both Erick and Hogey for the head's up.

The trade for Hughes is what it is. He's a guy who looks like a 2-guard (would you want to put Robinson on guys who are 6-7 or 6-8) and his contract expires before the legendary summer of 2010.

1 - what's SHAWN of the Dead? Never heard of such a movie...

2 - Although Larry Hughes may not be the best basketball talent on Earth, here's a dope stat line he dropped in '05: 22-6.3-4.7-2.9. I'm not saying he doesn't suck ass (he does), but he wasn't ALWAYS like this.

3 - I still can't come to terms with never seeing another LL post again.

Matt - if you like zombie movies, or comedies you NEED to see Shaun of the Dead. Think zombieland only with more laughs and fewer romantic comedy subplots.

Plus, it has Simon Pegg and he's the man.

Here's the trailer:

Eric - Sarcasm fail! I think Matt was commenting on Bawful's spelling fail.

Matt - defending Larry Hughes? I'm sure your roasting is coming, but all I have to say is shooting percentage. Even in '05, still bawful.

Oh man. That's a huge fail. I have no defense for myself.

DID YOU SEE THIS?!?! Zbo blocked 2 shots... THATS RIGHT 2 blocks! Is that like a career best and probably season best already?

This is completely unrelated, but I was just watching House, pushed the info button on the remote and noticed the episode was titled 'Epic Fail'.

Well, I guess it made me laugh.

I was going to email that tidbit to you, but I realized that your Bawful senses would be tingling even before Henry posted it. The story of Larry Hughes's career.

@ Matt: Two words for you: Contract Year. That stat line is what earned Larry his bloated contract.

The question is, does the contract year phenomena continue this season, as he will be an unrestricted free agent next season?

Other side note, Hughes is the Knicks' highest paid player this season. Not sure if Bawful mentioned that or not is his original post.

I loved me some LL just as much as anybody but I got to say I am really excited for some vintage Bawful. To another epic season of NBA lacktion!

Oh screw you guys! Here I am trying to protect all that is holy and bawful, and all I get in return is some contract year jabber. For your information, Larry Hughes has made lots of money for other players in the League by padding their rebound stats. The man is a modern day Robin Hood!

House is great but Curb has been great this season.
Bored to Deat on HBO has been great also

I think it says everything that the Knick's two highest paid players are Larry Hughes and Eddy Curry.

2010 can't come soon enough.

Yes, I remember Larry's 2005 season just like it was yesterday. After all, he helped me win my fantasy league that year before his untimely injury, and that was the only year I won. So thank you, Larry!

Did the Knicks trade for him? Yep. But we didn't sign him to the $70 million contract in the first place. And we also found a way to trade Tim Thomas AND Jerome James through the deal. So living with Larry Hughes inability to play decent basketball anymore is just a minor setback IMO, as a Knick fan.

Michael Hsu: Not only did Z-bo get two blocks in the game, he also got two assists. I was quite certain that the next morning the world was going to end for surely Z-bo playing D and passing the ball is a sign of the end of times.

As a Bulls fan, I am required to loathe Larry Hughes. I would imagine that you would loathe him even more if you were a Warriors, 76ers, Wizards, or especially a Cavaliers fan.

In case you guys didn't know, there is an entire website dedicated to Larry Hughes and his bawfulness. Check it out here:

What? No comments about the fact that Darko Milicic sat out the second half of the Knicks last game vs. Macabi Tel Aviv because of a sore stomach?

Shit, man .... I'd rather have Larry Hughes instead of Darko ....

plonden, at least it's better than paying $20 million a year for Allan Houston or Stephon Marbury not to play. Though upon reconsideration, maybe it's worth it for the latter.

Matt, no one creates rebounds like Ricky Davis. Hughes is an amateur.

Anonymous sends out Ricky Davis.

A challenger appears!!
